The Office of the District Attorney is currently recruiting qualified applicants for the below position(s):
County Detective - part time

County Detectives are sworn police officers vested with the authority to enforce the laws of the Commonwealth throughout Monroe County.   County Detectives perform criminal investigative duties as assigned by the Chief County Detective and the District Attorney.  In addition, County Detectives lend prosecutorial support to Assistant District Attorneys as needed.

This position requires Pennsylvania Act 120 certification at the time of application, a valid Pennsylvania driver's license, as well as:

  • an Associates Degree with course work emphasis in criminal justice, supplemented by one or two years of previous experience, or 
  • training and experience as a certified police officer, or 
  • any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. 

To reiterate, qualified applicants must possess Pennsylvania Act 120 Police Officer Certification through the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission prior to applying.  This is not a sponsored position.  Applicants without Act 120 certification will not be considered. 

This position works a minimum of 20 hours per week and up to a maximum of 30 hours per week when required.

The current wage is $18 per hour.
