INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY
MONROE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

The Office of the District Attorney participates in two different internship programs for local college students interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice.  The purpose of the internship program is to expose the student to real world experience in the field of criminal investigations as performed by a county detective unit or to real world experience in the field of criminal law through the representation of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as performed by an Assistant District Attorney.

Each internship runs a minimum of 12 weeks, and generally requires the student to work a 40 hour work week.

Intern - Detective Unit

The Detective Unit Intern is generally assigned to a primary county detective who supervises the intern.  Although the intern will usually work with the primary detective, from time to time, the intern will be assigned to others within the District Attorney’s Office, to include other detectives, prosecutors (Assistant District Attorneys) and, for at least one day, personnel from the Victim / Witness Advocacy unit.

The focus of this program is on criminal investigative and law enforcement operations.
